Favorite Things!

Since today is the last of the year, I published a "Favorite Things 2012" album on my Facebook page: here

I have had so much fun with all of these sessions this year and am just thrilled to think about what 2013 will hold for C. Birdy Photography.

Say Yes to the Bridesmaids Dress

Sharing is caring...I'm sharing my opinion on bridesmaids dresses from a photog's POV. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE this look. These ladies coordinated, but didn't match. Don't get me wrong, the classic uniformity of bridesmaids dresses is elegant and again, classic. But I loved the dimension this variety added to the wedding party. Apparently it is more difficult to coordinate than one might be inclined to think. But hey, that's the cost of beauty. Just had to share a "love."

Happily Ever After

Another chance to share little details from my most recent wedding...
In the days leading up to the wedding I wondered if there was more pressure or less pressure in photographing the wedding of close friends. Turns out, it's just plain fun. I can't say enough how much of a blessing it is to attend weddings in the capacity of the day's photographer. It's a stressful adventure, but it is so worth it. This one was all the more special because I have known Bryan for essentially my entire life, as well as most of his groomsmen. In the shot that I included, we got the entire wedding party involved in announcing to the world their marriage plans: to live happily ever after :)

Bryan & Hollie: I can't wait to see you guys grow old together.

Past, Present, Future

I am always blown away by the lovely details and sentiments that my brides and grooms put into their wedding day. It is such a privilege to see and photograph these things. This was especially true this past Saturday, when I photographed the wedding of Kristen & Andy. Andy infused traditional Jewish wedding events into their celebration and it was just so much fun. Everyone has seen the chair dance in movies and such, but it is an altogether different experience to be in the midst of one with a camera. I LOVED it. It was such a pleasure to be a part of this wedding and I know the guests feel the same way I do. I wish these two love birds all the best and lots of future chair dances :)

The Crafty Bro

My crafty bro uses The Crafty Crow. Do I sound like Dr. Seuss? This website: http://www.thecraftycrow.net/ has tons and tons of kid friendly ideas. I know I'm a little late considering summer is practically over, but still. This weekend I got to see my niece and nephew do the "paint walk" and I simply could not resist snapping some photos.

Apples to Apples.

I love the cute little touches that brides come up with to make their wedding day unique. Last night at Julie & Barry's wedding I saw details that I'd heard of online, but had yet to see at a wedding I've photographed. As a teacher, I loved the apple connotation :) But, more importantly, the apples as a seating plan and favor are also special to the bride and groom. You see, having apples as a "favor" is a trademark move of Uno's in Salisbury (everywhere?), and that's where these love birds met. Cute, I know.

The brooch bouquet was another detail that I just loved. All of the lovely ladies invited to Julie's shower brought her a special brooch that would be included in this bouquet on her wedding day. What a wonderful way to honor the important people in your life. Julie also adorned it with special locket pictures (I have an affinity for lockets). The final look is vintage-chic and I dig it :)
